The Boozecan Goes Legit: crime scene photos.

This is our official, and gigantic, “thank you” to everyone who came out to our celebratory night at The Metropole Pub with Granville Mag last Thursday (apologies for the lateness of this post BTW). Seems like everyone had a pretty rockin’ good time - ‘specially us (as was evidenced the following day by a couple of resounding hangovers).

Double-fisted cheers to our editor Hilary from Granville Mag for taking us on in the first place, Dana D for organizing and co-DJ’ing the night, The Stunt Man for spinning more great tunes, the crew at The Met Pub, and Marc from Granville Island Brewing for contributing the much-appreciated beery goodness to the soiree.

So muchas gracias to one and all who made it out, hopefully we got to meet and chat with everyone, but our booziest apologies if we missed you - the night was a bit of a blur. And we don’t mean from just the alky-hol.

To those of you who are thinking, “Hold the phone, Mabel! Granville Mag, a Donnelly pub, Granville Island Brewing? Is The Boozecan selling out?”, we say to you, “Oh ye of little faith, fear not”. In fact, one of the reasons we’re happy about writing for Granville Mag is that they DON’T want us to lose our, well, “bluntness”. We’ll continue to tell it like it is, no punches pulled, and very often with lots of sweary words. ‘Cuz that’s how we fuckin’ roll.

Remember, we review bars and pubs and wouldn’t take a dime off them as sponsors so that we can remain unbiased. But when nice people offer to help you out like with Thursday’s event, we’d be idiots to say no. Not that we’re the valedictorians of the school of course - we’re the kids voted least likely to succeed; however, we found something we’re good at and we’re not letting it go.
