‘Tis the season of relentless imbibing.
Ah, Christmas - the holiday of excess; presents, mountains of grub, so many tasty seasonal drinks, and so many reasons to have one. And here’s a goody even your Grandma will knock you down for: The Egg Nog Martini.
Of course, there’s tons of egg nog martini recipes out there, but we like this one best ‘cause it’s super easy. And that’s good, ‘cause we’re super lazy. Here’s what you need:
1 oz Eggnog
1 oz Amaretto
1 oz Vodka
Cinnamon or Nutmeg
Shake ‘nog, Amaretto and vodka (with just enough ice to get it nice and cold without being watery), and strain into a martini glass. Sprinkle with cinnamon or ground nutmeg. Of course, making your own egg nog from scratch is always an admirable undertaking, but it’s a pain in the ass, so we recommend a good quality store-bought one - preferably without any “guar gum” in it.
Merry Boozemas!
UPDATE: ‘K, we got a little bit of flak from some purists out there regarding the ingredients: Yes, most store-bought egg nogs contain crap, but with a little bit of effort you can find some that aren’t too bad (click on the link above for one locally made ‘nog that’s pretty good). And yes, home-made is always better and the ingredients are basic, but this is about low-effort. But hey, if you’ve got the time, have at it! We’d just rather not waste valuable drinking time.
And yes, “technically” you should only ever put rum in egg nog, but that would just make it a shaken up rum and egg nog, no? This is an egg nog MARTINI. But if you’re a purist, technically this shouldn’t even be called a martini either and…MAN! It’s Christmas! Can’t we just all get along?
