55+ breweries, 70 venues and 9 days of beer! Sounds heavenly doesn’t it? Even Mayor Gregor Robertson or as we like to call him “GREGOR THE KEGGER” kicks things off by tapping the first cask and declaring May 6 – 14, 2011, Vancouver Craft Beer Week!

It’s a week of beer pub crawls, food and beer pairings, beer science, beer courses, beer and burlesque, beer and BBQ, beer seminars, beer casks, beer how-to’s, beer awards, beer cocktails, beer and women (not being sexist here), beer festivals and even a Mother’s Day beer brunch!

Don’t be missing out on this one fellow dipsomaniacs! Get your beer on!

Craft breweries - small, but they can kick a giant in the nuts.
 
Here’s an encouraging little story out of St. Louis (home of the U.S. and A’s largest producer of absolute swill beer, Anheuser Busch) where a resurgence in craft brewing is filling the local population’s pint glasses with some much needed variety - thanks in part to a corporate take-over. And people say globalization’s a bad thing. Mind you, if all we got to drink was Bud, fermented horse urine would probably be a welcome change.
